Telluride Paintings

We had a model for the second class. It was a continuation of the two week figure drawing from the last season in October.

On way Back to NY December

Too cold most of the way and again packed to the gills.

But Christmas Day a great day and a painting.  On the Road.

Yellow Cottonwood

New Mexico , Monastery Road

I've painted here much before.

The dead tree was what I zeroed in on-- for whatever reason. Then I saw how its negative spaces brought the mountain forward.

I liked that then-- as I knew the more one paints something the more interest grows in nuance.

Brooklyn Bridge

Back from Nova Scotia I thought Id make that Brooklyn Bridge Painting,  I have tried so many times before.

I wanted to make it as a "stepping off" into America painting.

Nova Scotia

Painted in Nova Scotia for I think 4 days.

The weather was rainy so I painted in between.

Was here in 2006 and wanted to make oil paintings.

Nova Scotia is beautiful on the coast and especially here. It has been developed in a very middle class way-- lots of aluminum siding, surprising but I guess because it is in expensive there and so far away.

Telluride in July

The painting class in Telluride. A continuation of things I do at Anderson Ranch in Aspen.

It worked well.

We had a model as I taught a class the last fall of figure drawing. They wanted to try to continue the idea.

It worked well. Hank Pitcher taught the first class and I the second with the figure..

Painted on Hastings Mesa-- on the weekend, the Sunflowers were amazing.
